Gardener Scale 3

  • £10.14 per hour
  • Full-Time Temporary

Working closely with our Client we have been instructed to appoint an Experienced Gardener with immediate effect. The successful applicant will execute the following duties to the highest of standards.

  • Maintain the orderly condition of grounds, that is, sweeping, hoeing, raking, mowing, edging, removal of litter and rubbish etc.
  • Maintain buildings, that is cleaning (sweeping, mopping and dusting), movement of equipment and materials (tables, chairs and machinery).
  • Carry out labour associated with soil cultivation, manuring, site preparation and construction.
  • Carry out grass cutting, hedge cutting and pruning.
  • Use powered hand tools and light plant to perform duties.
  • Load, unload and move equipment and materials such as mowers, barrows, plants, soil, fertilisers, horticultural tools and sundries.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment in a satisfactory condition including the cleaning of garden tools and basic cleaning and maintenance of lawnmowers.
  • Assist the higher graded Gardeners in their work.
  • Assist in the development of horticultural schemes.  
  • Identify risks in the course of their duty and take the necessary remedial action.  
  • Undergo periodic training as and when required.
  • Carry out cultural operations, e.g the planting of trees, shrubs and plants.
  • Carry out turf and seed sowing.
  • Communicate with site users and respond to maintenance and information requests.  
  • Maintain games facilities and areas including spiking, scarifying, top-dressing, fertilising and also marking of games areas and erection/dismantling of posts.
  • Carry out site preparation and constructions.
  • Carry out application of chemical pest control methods including calibration of sprayers and identification of a range of pests, diseases and weeds.
  • Operate tractor mounted equipment as required.
  • Maintain appropriate records of work and inspections and complete basic paperwork as required.
  • Assist in on-the-job training and coaching, including work placements.  
  • Ensure effective communication with other members of the team and line management.  
  • Ensure that work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and council regulations, to include the wearing of safety boots and high visibility jacket.
  • Undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the Client.
  • Undertake such other relevant duties as may from time to time be required.
